Day 1: Cory Jewell Jensen, M.S.
Cory Jewell Jensen is the senior trainer for CBI Consulting, and has provided evaluation and treatment services to adult sex offenders and their families in Portland, Oregon for over 35 years. Ms. Jensen has provided training and consultation services to Government agencies, law enforcement, child advocacy and Faith-based organizations. She has served as Executive Director for the Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers and been an instructor for Portland State University’s Child Welfare Training Institute for the past 18 years. She has published articles related to sex offender treatment, risk management and child abuse prevention, testified as an expert witness in local and federal courts and been a featured guest on radio talk shows and the Oprah Winfrey Show.

Ms. Jensen will provide a full day of training addressing:

Selection, Engagement, and Seduction of Children and Adults by Child Molesters

Protecting our Children: “Advice from Child Molesters” A Child Safety and Crime Prevention Program

What Sex Offenders Can Teach Us About Interviewing

Day 2: Karen Chymy
Karen Chymy is the Director of Operations for the Canadian Centre for Child Protection (CCCP) In Winnipeg. She joins us to provide education and resources on online child sexual exploitation and abuse. Karen joined the CCCP in 2008 as the Program Manager for Cybertip.ca, where she supervised the day-to-day work of the tip line. In her role as Director of Operations, she is involved in program development and plays a central role in advancing innovative solutions to better protect children from sexual exploitation and harm. Karen is currently focused on special projects, including expanding the Canadian Centre’s support services for survivors. Prior to joining the agency, she worked for ten years in child welfare and other child-serving organizations providing programming and services to at-risk children.

Karen will provide a half day of training addressing:

Grooming, luring and exploitation through gaming platforms

Efforts to address and reduce child sexual abuse

Identifying victims and improving support services

Day 2 will also include a presentation from local RCMP members working with children and youth and victims of sexual exploitation. A panel of local service providers will discuss Child Sexual Exploitation and Abuse in the context of their agency experience and expertise in order to provide conference attendees with a more complete picture of the way in which the subject matter is impacting our community and the region.
