Gender Based Violence & the Active Bystander

Using a combination of interactive personal reflection exercises, educational tools, and evidence-based research and resources, you will explore the impact of society, culture and the media in creating and fostering unhealthy beliefs and attitudes surrounding gender roles and stereotypes that perpetuate gender-based violence. Using the Active Bystander Approach, you will learn skills and tools to identify and intervene against gender-based violence and abuse in your own circles of influence. The material for this workshop is drawn from the Alberta Council of Women’s Shelters program Leading Change: Inspired Communities.
