This introductory workshop will provide you with a strong baseline on how to intervene and help individuals who are in crisis. You will learn about different types of crisis a person can experience across their lifespan and how adverse childhood experiences can impact individuals in crisis. You learn critical communication skills and how they can assist with de-escalating someone. Participants will explore different crisis intervention models from both a lecture and experiential format. You will also learn how to intervene with people in crisis in various situations, like someone who has been sexually assaulted. You will walk away from this training knowing how to communicate with and support someone who is in crisis.
